Research into children’s social and psychological problems receives a disproportionately small amount of attention, especially considering their social and financial impact. The absence of data on important indicators, and often the fragmented way it is available limits our understanding of children’s development, its causes, manifestations, patterns and linkages. As a result attempts to improve policy and programme design for improving the welfare of children also fail to provide the desired results. In this context this study attempts to capture the status of children across different issues. This research work may the small step towards providing a reference point for discussion and influencing the direction of policy and programming on children in Odisha.
